To follow Jesus is to be formed by Him. We are all being shaped — by culture, habits, and stories — but apprenticeship to Jesus offers a new way: to be with Him, become like Him, and do what He did. This journey of spiritual formation is slow, deep, and often costly — it requires death to self and cooperation with the Holy Spirit. But in dying, we find life.
The gospel of Jesus is one of grace. And while our ongoing spiritual formation in Christ is something that we cannot earn, we’re not excused from making an effort to partner with the Holy Spirit and make ourselves available to His transformative power.
The reality is that there are things we can do that will, over time, help us to become more like Jesus.
